Willia Hicks “Aunt Bill” Smith, 107, the oldest resident of Cumberland County, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Cumberland Valley Manor in Burkesville, Kentucky. She was born on Wednesday, February 3, 1909, in Cumberland County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Timothy Freeman “Tim” and Fannie (Lee) Hicks. She was a member of the Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church for over 90 years, a Sunday School teacher for many years and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Smith, her brothers, Welby Hicks, Twyman Hicks, her sisters, Ruby Appleby and Faye Radford.
She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church in Cumberland County, Kentucky with Bro. Jimmy Powell and Mr. Keith Radford officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery in the Howards Bottom community of Cumberland County, Kentucky.
The family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The body will then be taken to lie in state at the Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
