Sue Catherine Williams was born on December 11, 1918 in Grider, Kentucky, Cumberland County to the late Judge Henry Carey and Lucy Alexander Carey. She was a resident of Louisville, Kentucky. She was the second of seven children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

She received Christ at an early age at Clay Street Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Claude Taylor (Shelbyville, Kentucky).

She went to grade school in Cumberland County and attended Jackmon High School in Columbia, Kentucky. She graduated from college at Kentucky State University where she became a school teacher.

She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband George Randolph Williams, whom she cared for until his death.

She was a devoted friend to many. She was always there with a listening ear, kind word and a shoulder to cry on. She would encourage friends to be the best you can be and she would do whatever she could to help you do that.

On Monday, June 22, 2015, at 2:41 p.m., she quietly went to meet her Heavenly Father. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends; sister, Dorothy Jane Carey Allen (Charlie Allen) of Burkesville, one daughter, Sue Carolyn Williams Tobin, (one grandson preceded her in death, William J. Tobin III), one granddaughter, Catherine J. Kirby (Chico), nieces, Sarah J. Allen Johnson (Thomas Johnson), Melissa Allen, Deborah Carey Jordan (Albert Jordan), and Lisa Carey, great grandchildren, Lorenzo Carroll, William James Tobin, IV, and Tyia Tobin, nephew, Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Pitchford, great nieces, Jennele Johnson, A.J. Jordan and Carrie Joe Jordan, Mark and Jennifer Haynie and family and Michelle Jones and other relatives and friends who will also miss her warm and caring presence.

Services were held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at G.C. Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Kentucky with Rev. Derrick L. Miles officiating. Interment was in the Green Meadows Memorial Cemetery.
