Nicholas Claywell, age 13, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home. Nicholas was born on February 21, 2003 in Glasgow, Kentucky to Shannon and Crystal Poppino Claywell. He was an 8th grade student at Cumberland County Middle School where he excelled in his classes. He was involved in the Cumberland County Marching Band and also loved playing piano. He enjoyed being involved in the community with E.R. Ministries and was a member of the Burkesville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Poppino and Russell Claywell.
Survivors include his parents, Shannon and Crystal Claywell of Burkesville, four siblings, Britney Nicole Halstead and her husband Derrick of Princeton, West Virginia, Alex Claywell of Louisville, Tori McKenzie Claywell of Burkesville and Isaiah Matthew Claywell of Burkesville, his grandparents, Betty Poppino of Lebanon, Indiana and Carolyn Moles of Indianapolis, Indiana, his longtime best friend, Elijah Hall and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cumberland County Middle School with Dr. Mark Shelton and Dr. Tim Parson officiating. Singing by Andrea Parson. Pallbearers were Nathan Britt, Jordan Fillingham, Xander Newell, Ezra Vibbert, Tayde Capshaw, Alex Claywell, Isaiah Claywell and Ruben Izarra.
