Nancy Karnes, 73, of Columbia, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 4:44 p.m. at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, after several weeks of illness. She was born December 30, 1941 in Celina, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Edison and Ora Willis Spears of Cumberland County, Kentucky. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Karnes in March 2010 and by one infant son, Austin Carl Karnes on July 8, 1964.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Spears and husband Larry of Burkesville, Donna Voris and husband Victor of Burkesville, Tonya Ballou and Glenn Benham of Brandenburg, two sons, Eddie Grissom and wife Donna of Upton, Justin Karnes and wife Candy of Columbia, one brother, Stanley Spears of Indianapolis, Indiana, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a very special niece Shirley Long of Burkesville, a very special friend and sister-in-law, Wanda Karnes of Columbia, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Karnes officiating. Interment was in the Columbia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nathan Burris, Jeremy Connor, Timothy Mullins, Gary Spears, Ronnie Slaven and Gene Willis.
