Mattie Irene Crawford Wells

Mrs. Mattie Irene Crawford Wells, 95, of Franklin, Indiana, formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Homeview Nursing Home in Franklin, Indiana. She was born in Kettle, Kentucky on Sunday, January 12, 1919, the daughter of the late Jessie and Flora Blythe Crawford. She was a member of the Poplar Grove Church of Christ, a homemaker and a farmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Gentry Wells, whom she wed in 1942, her son, Charles Crawford, her daughters, Gayle Shanehsaz and Alice Murphy, her brothers, Earl Crawford, John Will Crawford and her sisters, Mary Biggerstaff, Ella White, Pauline Roach, and Ottie Hubbard.

She is survived her son, William Hiram Wells, Sr. of Shelbyville, Indiana, her sister, Cindy Crawford Scott of Glasgow, her grandchildren, Edwin and Julie Murphy, Irene and Clinton Nalley, William Wells, Jr., Teresa and Nathan Moffett and Abraham Shanehsaz, her great-grandchildren, Shawna, Nicholas, Daniel, Samantha, Elizabeth, Chelsea, Jessalyn, Linzie, Gabrielle, Chloe and her great-great-grandchild, Raelyn Irene.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. James McDonald officiating. Burial was in the Donaldson Cemetery in Clay County, Tennessee. Pallbearers were William Wells, Jr., Edwin Murphy, Clinton Nalley, Abraham Shanehsaz, Nicholas Tanner and Joe Davidson. Honorary pallbearer was Joshua Vibbert.
