Mary Magdalene Kirkpatrick, 84, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Cumberland County Hospital. Mary was born on March 18, 1930 in Cumberland County, Kentucky to the late Samuel Owsley and Ruth Hunter Owsley. She was a member of Big Sandy Holiness Church, a former employee of Alpine Motel and Restaurant, Driftwood Restaurant, and was a homemaker and a babysitter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Luster Kirkpatrick, one son, John W. Kirkpatrick, seven sisters, Sally, Narlie, June, Ollie Lee, Frances, Aileen and Regina and four brothers, Samuel, Hunter, William and Earl.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Kirkpatrick of Burkesville, Cheryl Nelson and her husband Steve of Burkesville and Silvia Hunn and her husband Anthony of Glasgow, two sons, Rickye Kirkpatrick and his wife Mary of Burkesville and Myron Kirkpatrick and his friend Angela of Burkesville, one sister, Arvana Alexander of Burkesville, three sisters-in-law, Hazel Owsley, Edna Lou Kirk and Linda Joyce Kirk, all of Burkesville, four brothers-in-law, Lonnie Kirk and Robert Daniel Kirk, both of Burkesville, Elzie Kirk of Marrowbone and Lawrence Kirk of Glasgow, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home with Bishop Jose’ Anders officiating. Singing by Sister Mary McAdoo, George Alexander, Jr. and Bishop Jose’ Anders. Pianist was George Alexander, Jr. Organist was Sister Sharon Payne. Acknowledgements by Sister Deborah Seay. Poem and tributes by Michael Hunn and Sylvia Hunn. Readings by Dr. Delores Kersey and Evangelist Hattie Hughes. Burial was in the Grundy Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steven Allen, Jermicah Richardson, Jamie Allen, Lionel Richardson, Elijahwon Hunn, Casey Richardson, Michael Hunn, Jacob Kirkpatrick and Dustin Thompson.
