Lillian Frances Ballard Cooksey, 85, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky. She was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Saturday, October 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Bob Daniel “Buss” and Evie Frances Firkins Ballard. She was of Methodist faith, attended Marrowbone United Methodist Church and was an inspector for R. C. A. Corporation, Bob Evans Manufacturing and Sutton Shirt Corporation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie Ballard, Irvin Ballard, James Paul Ballard, Henry Ballard and her sisters, Eugenia “Polly” Anderson and Annie Mae Smith.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny Ray (and Diane) Cooksey, Bobby Joe (and Sharon) Cooksey, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, her daughter, Carolyn (and Billy) Key of Burkesville, her brother, Daniel Ballard of Greenwood, Indiana, her grandchildren, Debbie Sue Garhartt, Robert Dishman, Denise Cooksey, Jared Cooksey and Chris Cooksey, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and special friend, Rick Clark of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, June 7, 2015 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Dr. Wesley Paul officiating. Special music and singing by Libby Mullinix. Burial was in the Dutch Creek Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Michael Anderson, Bobby Cooksey, Casey Anderson, Jerry Smith, Skylar Alexander and Tristan Key. Honorary Casket Bearer was Sambo Norris.
