James Russell Shaw, 77, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born on December 9, 1936 in Cumberland County, Kentucky to the late Lee Vanis Shaw and Ida Bunch Shaw. He was an employee of the City of Albany Water Department and was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church in Clinton County, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Shaw one brother, Robert (wife,, Cecil) Shaw.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Delphine Welch Shaw of Burkesville, two sons, Timothy Shaw and his wife Betty and Mike Shaw and his wife Carla, all of Albany, one daughter, Schonia Dicken of Albany, two grandchildren he helped raise, Joshua Shaw and Jonathan Dicken, along with nine other grandchildren, Ricky Ford, Anthony Shaw, Amanda Shaw, Benji Claywell, Patrick Dicken, Dakota Miller, Charles Gordon, Samuel Rains, Jimmy Rains, his best friend, David Guffey, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Cave Springs Baptist Church in Albany with Bro. Ron Jones, Bro. Jason Brogan and Billy Copas officiating. Burial was in the Lewis Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.
Pallbearers were Jeff Brown, David Harris, T.C. Harold, Dwight Harold, Kenneth Delk, James Moore, Ben Claywell and David Guffey. Honorary pallbearers were David Page and Charles Gordon.
