James Richard “Dickie” Alexander, Jr., of Burkesville, Kentucky, formerly of Marrowbone, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at The Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 80 years, 10 months and 9 days. He was born in Marrowbone, Kentucky on Sunday, November 29, 1936, the son of James Richard Alexander, Sr. and Jeneavee Grace Riddle Alexander. He was a member of the Marrowbone Presbyterian Church and for many years, the Librarian at Cumberland County Public Library. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his siblings, Albert Gilliam (and Frances) Alexander of Louisville, Gregory E (and Betty) Alexander of White House, Tennessee, David Lynn (and Kathy) Alexander of Bowling Green, Rebecca Jane Alexander (and Carol Creech) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, one niece, seven nephews, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Marrowbone Presbyterian Church in Marrowbone, Kentucky with Rev. David Alexander officiating. Memories and reflections were shared by Norma Jo Murley. Burial was in the Marrowbone Cemetery in Marrowbone, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Paul Smith, Eric Alexander, Stephen Alexander, John Alexander, Josh Alexander and Jamie Alexander. Honorary Casket Bearers were Albert Gilliam Alexander, Sr. and Kevin Alexander.
