Hazel Owsley

Hazel Owsley, 89, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Hazel was born on June 29, 1925 in Cumberland County, Kentucky to the late Tyler and Leda Maupin Elliott. She was a member of the Burkesville Community Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Owsley, Sr., one daughter, Landa Gail Kirk, three sisters, Mary Rowe, Cecil Twyman and Fannie Bow, and five brothers, Tyler Elliott, Willie Elliott, Gleason Elliott, Ottis Elliott and Frank Elliott.

Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Clemons and her husband Benny, Elaine Maxey and her husband Billy and Robin Trigg and her husband Johnny, all of Burkesville, one son, William Owsley, Jr. and his wife Ann of Burkesville, sisters-in-law, Nell Elliott and Arvana Alexander, both of Burkesville, son-in-law, Phillip Kirk of Burkesville, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home with Rev. James Starks officiating. Reflections by Jo Murley and Jerome Atkins. Singing by George Alexander, Jr., McKenzie Atkins and Paige Hamilton. Acknowledgements by Stephanie Walker and family prayer by Billy Maxey. Burial was in Grundy Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dewaun Maxey, Craig Scott, Parker Scott, Kelly Kirk, Todd Owsley, Neal Owsley and Blake Owsley. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Maxey, Juvon Maxey, Qwmaine Scott, Rayshawn Scott, Riley Scott, Aspen Kirk, Landan Kirk, Seth Owsley, Trent Owsley, Trevor Owsley, Cedric Owsley, Cameron Owsley, Benny Clemons, Johnny Trigg, Brian Johnson and Phillip Kirk.
