Harold Dean Rose


Harold Dean Rose of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at his residence in Cumberland County, Kentucky, having attained the age of 75 years, 2 months and 28 days. He was born in the Beefhide Community of Letcher County, Kentucky on Sunday, March 1, 1942, the son of the late Walden D. Rose and Shelley Faye Wilson Rose Smith. He was a Christian, of Pentecostal Faith and attended The House of Prayer in Spiceland, Indiana, a U.S. Army Veteran, attaining the rank of Private First Class and served as an M.P. He was a farmer, a supervisor for Ingersoll Steel Company, and an employee of Press Glass.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Eugene Breeding, his nephew, Bill Vanderpool and his great-nephew, Levi Rose.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Scott Rose of Burkesville, his children, Robin Rose of Dunreith, Indiana, Teresa (and Steve) Blake of New Castle, Indiana, Jo Ann (and Mark) McDonald of Campbellsville, Lealisa (and Dale) Roach, Susan Thacker and Jerry Ralph Pennycuff, all of Burkesville, his siblings, Willie (and Sue) Rose of Burkesville, Gary Rose of New Castle, Indiana, Ronnie Rose of Dureith, Indiana, Carl (and Shari) Breeding of New Castle, Indiana, Daphane Rose Griffith of Florida, Sue (and Curt) Thrasher of Albany, and Brenda Lester of Davenport, Virginia, his grandchildren, Josh, Jody, Brad, Symantha, Brittany, Jonathan, Laura, Jalisa, Matthew, Luke, Canyon, Emily and Iliana, twenty great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Nickie Richards officiating. Burial was in the Mud Camp Cemetery with Military Honors given by The D.A.V. Chapter #105 from Monticello, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Josh Prince, Canyon Roach, Matthew McDonald, Luke McDonald, Jonathan Gilbert and Henry Lester. Honorary Casket Bearers were Ronnie Claywell, Barney Claywell, Daryl Davis, Earl Anderson, Lyle Spears, Wesley Radford, David Smith, William Anderson, Jack Ruppaner, Steve Blake, Marcus Thurman Dakota Vanderpool, Doug Scott, Gary Long, Robert Vanderpool, Richard Smith, Rondal Scott, Robert Paul Gilbert, Mark McDonald, Dale Roach, Gary Thacker, members of Burkesville VFW Post # 5419 and Burkesville American Legion Post # 119.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are to be made to the Mud Camp Cemetery c/o Madie Smith, 6644 Mud Camp Road, Burkesville, Kentucky. 42717.
