Bennie J.D. Tallent

Bennie J.D. Tallent, 74, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky. He was born in Albany, Kentucky on Sunday, July 13, 1941, the son of the late Aaron Darcus and Reba Thelma Cummings Tallent. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Burkesville and a pipefitter/welder for Don-Lee Inc. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ida Maude Thrasher, his brothers, Guy Warren Tallent and Aaron Oakley Tallent and his nephew, Warren Tallent.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Thrasher Tallent of Burkesville, whom he married on Saturday, May 20, 1961, his daughter, Lesley Robin Tallent (and John) Fleshood of Elmhurst, Illinois, his brothers, Bobby (and Doris) Tallent, Johnny (and Becky) Tallent, Gary (and Arissa) Tallent, Wendell (and Sylvia) Tallent, all of Albany, Joe (and Sheryl) Tallent of Martinsville, Indiana, his sister, Ina (and Rob) Norris of New Whiteland, Indiana and one grandchild, Matthew Fleshood.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky, with Bro. Harold Ogle and Bro. Jeff Connar officiating. Comments and reflections were shared by Porter McCoy, and scripture and family memories were shared by his grandson, Matthew Fleshood. Special songs, requested by the family, were shared by Sounds of Faith, and special music was shared by Edalene Hurst. Burial was in the Cave Springs Cemetery in Albany, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Tim Tallent, Bruce Tallent, David Tallent, Rocky Tallent, Danny Tallent, John Fleshood, Matthew Fleshood and Rob Norris. Honorary Casket Bearers were Chad Brown, Dr. Samuel Rice, Jeff Sams, Red Thrasher, Aaron Stidham and Shane Stidham.

Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of funeral arrangements.
